Please hold my hand - positive FIT test

Hi all
Always suffered IBS and had colonoscopy seven years ago which was clear. Been having a lot more left sided pain recently which flares from time to time and is so painful. Just been told my FIT test came back positive - 53
I'm utterly so worried. I'm panicking it's cancer and my kids will have to grow up with no Mum.
Please anyone who's been there can you give me any relevant advice
Thanks

I'm not an expert but can reassure you that my husband had a positive FIT test but further tests showed nothing to worry about, no cancer.

I had similar pain and after tests they found ischaemic colitis. It was inflammation not cancer. Not sure what fit test is?

Ok - worst case it's cancer, but bowel cancer has excellent treatment/survival rates.

Have you need referred for a colonoscopy? That should identify anything that needs sorting or will give you the all clear.

Fwiw my dad had a large tumour in his bowel, it was removed in surgery he has no bag and has needed no further treatment.

I hope it turns out to be nothing.

It's a measure of blood in your stool

@workiskillingme

Oh I so feel your concern nee fear !!😔
Please try not to worry - although I appreciate its much easier said than done !

Too suffered IBS, 4 colonoscopies later now have Diverticular Disease and polyps removed ( thankfully all benign)

Last April another colonoscopy after "passing" large amounts of blood and experiencing stomach pain - Fast tracked on 2 week cancer path fearing the absolute worst.

Result = Diverticulitis and internal piles and not a trace of cancer ❤️

Very best wishes 👍
