What does your DC want for their 11th birthday?

I feel awful, the one thing that DC wants for her upcoming birthday, she cannot have. She says she doesn't want anything else and I'm drawing a blank on something special or a bit different that won't break the bank that she would like.

What went down well with your DC when they turned 11, or what are they asking for?

London theatre trip
half day pony riding day
A new sleepover personalised bag and pink satin pjs ( 😂)
legimi pens and pencil case
£100 Amazon voucher
a dream dictionary
pair of next flares she’s been hankering after
a trilogy of books

I don't know what your budget is but my dc11 wanted (as did many of her friends) Nike Air Force 1's. At Christmas dc wanted a Pandora charm, Ariana grande perfume, a make up fridge (!) and a hair straightening brush. These things seemed pretty typical within her friend group.

My Dd used to like Smiggles stationary & rainbow stuff & most of all a fun party with friends . If you want to provide a small party, Can you get her to help make invitations and plan party foods and making a fun cake ?

AmberGer · 09/02/2023 10:37

What does she want that she can't have? Is there another way to achieve this? Second hand or pay in instalments?

Explodingatomickittens · 09/02/2023 10:40

Air up bottle & lego!

PuttingDownRoots · 09/02/2023 10:44

Mine wanted an "experience". We got her a snowboarding lesson at the nearish Snowdome.

This year its a paddleboarding lesson for her 12th birthday.

InsufficientMum · 09/02/2023 10:47

My daughter turns eleven in a couple of weeks. She's obsessed with "Stranger things" so have bought her a few bits from that, funko pops, hoodies etc. Main present is meeting Jamie Campbell Bower and Matthew Modine in April 😃

Whattheladybird · 09/02/2023 10:52

My DC will be getting a phone for his 11th.

Reindear · 09/02/2023 10:54

My son will be getting a phone. He turns 11 2 weeks before he starts high school. He will also want Lego I would imagine.

Dacadactyl · 09/02/2023 10:56

My son wants (and will be getting) a phone. He's summer born so it will be good timing for starting high school. He's been asking for one for about 3 years and we have always said no, not until his year 6 birthday.

RNBrie · 09/02/2023 10:58

Mine wanted Harry Styles tickets and a proper fitbit. She also wanted chocolate. We also got her lots of Harry Styles paraphernalia (tshirt, tote bag etc) which she was very happy with.

OK, so...

You could sign up to borrow my doggy and walk local dogs.

Help out at a dog rescue and take them for walks.

Or Foster one from a rescue centre, they pay all costs including food.

Visit a doggy cafe, there's a few chihuahua cafes dotted around.

Novita · 09/02/2023 11:22

Mint green KÃ¥nken back bag.

Nadal · 09/02/2023 11:24

Does she like Harry Potter? Day out at the Studios.
Or the new Legacy game?

InsufficientMum · 09/02/2023 12:55

@AmberGer she can't do any of that alone, so it is not going to happen.

She does like Harry Potter but we can't get to the studios or any shows without a flight so it's just not possible for a birthday.

She got a phone for Christmas as she travels to clubs on the bus. And also has the correct (aka KÃ¥nken) bag.

Excellent ideas there

My daughter turned 11 last month and she got a tv for her bedroom, an Air Up bottle and some books. Also some gift cards for Amazon, H&M etc so she can pick some new clothes.

We're also decorating her room this year and will get all new 'grown up' furniture and stuff she wants.

Whatislove82 · 09/02/2023 16:38

why on earth would you even want her to do alone?! Do it with her of course!

I am not going to encourage my 10 (11) year old to go anywhere near unknown, bored, most likely untrained or badly trained dogs.

Help out at a dog rescue and take them for walks.
ditto

Any foster centre that would allow
a dog to go to a one room, top floor flat should be shut down with no outdoor space.

Visit a doggy cafe, there's a few chihuahua cafes dotted around.
That sounds utterly revolting and totally unhygienic.
