ULEZ question

So, this is assuming the roll out to Greater London goes ahead, which I think it will. My car is 16 years old. It is compliant, but only just - the model after it isn't. Next year it will be over 16 years old, which is the threshold at the moment. Does this mean that next year it will not be compliant or does it not work like that? I've asked around and people say it's to do with emissions not age but the adverts are all around how old your car is. TIA.

Currently the Mayor is taking cars all the cars off the road by 2030. Hes promising to do this by giving everyone fines. Totally committed to it he will not sell us oil or gas. Eu 7 is expected to be the next goalpost for many diesels i expect EU 6 for cars. No age is not going to a factor in the next lift. As leader of the C40 megacities group of over 1000 cities, he has committed to this and hes quoting fake Air studies from every city. There are multiple climate charity foundations sponsored by electricity companies like TFL pouring 100s of millions of tax free earnings to create lies about Air and traffic movements. Reporting serious lies when in reality they are bankrupting everyone causing huge congestion and 10 times more serious accidents i could say so much m,ore so much but my own child is in hospital now and i cant afford to work

seriously you wont believe his plans, they are going to have 2/3rd of cars gone by 2027 and in 2028 they are sending 19 million homes fines for not having insulation and underground energy machines, they wont let you rent or sell your house without paying them 20.000 for products that will soon also be banned and need updating

blippyissilly · 08/02/2023 21:58

The goalposts will continually get moved so if you have a car that meets criteria in a few years they'll adjust the criteria so it doesn't

TumblerGuy · 08/02/2023 22:10

people can see Conservative and Labour are both gunning for ULEZ and LTNs and 15 minute cities etc its a lost battle. You might stop it spreading this year that only means it will happen the year after. Its a done deal until theres a revolution and that just might happen to be honest it wont be this year everyones too slow on the news

moonbows · 08/02/2023 22:12

I think you’re fine for a while. It was closer to 12 years when ULEZ started so I don’t think they are changing which cars are eligible at the moment. Of course it will change in the end tho…

SleekMamma · 08/02/2023 22:14

It's not the age of car it's on the emissions level. Euro 5 or 6 etc. So you need to find out what emissions level your car is. Then go from there.

Cynical money grabbing move.
Being challenged by several councils who cc an see it will hit the poorest.

SleekMamma · 18/02/2023 18:09

Oh it will definitely hit the poorest people. But it's greenwashing and they don't care.
Stopping cruise ships docking near London would have a HUGE MASSIVE impact on air quality compared to cars not meeting the right emissions levels.

Not many cruise ships dock near London.

But how about aeroplanes? Closing Heathrow, City, Gatwick, Stansted and Luton would have a massive impact on air quality. And a massive impact on many thousands of livelihoods.

So angry about this. Boris made a speech about it. Can't believe I agree with Him, but this is just a money making scheme till 2030.

Sporty2022 · 18/02/2023 18:33

But isn’t some of the London Boroughs challenging the ULEZ?

Also what happens when he leaves office ? What about his policies then?

Lots of working class people need cars in London. People work shifts. Anti social hours. Not everyone can afford to live where they work. People do school runs then go to work . Public transport isn’t an opt for everyone.

Lots of people in London boroughs are actually in poverty and might only have an older vehicle.

woodhill · 18/02/2023 18:35

I think he is going to have a fight on his hands, no one is accepting this lying down

Sporty2022 · 18/02/2023 18:38

I’ve heard of some HGV companies planning on stopping going into London. Imagine if shops and businesses couldn’t receive food or goods because of Khans plans.

London could literally be starved of getting its goods delivered. I wonder how many people will want to leave London?

watchfulwishes · 18/02/2023 18:39

How on earth has this 15 minute city conspiracy stuff got everywhere so quickly??

SleekMamma · 18/02/2023 19:49

Loads of cruise ships dock in Tilbury and further up the thames too. Really really polluting.
