Toothache relief?

Neonbug · 08/02/2023 18:42

I’ve had toothache for a few days now, at first it was niggling but it’s getting worse as the days go on. Paracetamol isn’t really helping and I’m not sure what else to try! I can’t afford to see a dentist so please send any toothache relieving tips my way!

Can you describe the pain ? Is it sore all the time ?

avocado44 · 08/02/2023 18:48

Warm salt water rinse. I have ongoing teeth issues and this really helps! I'm so sorry you've got this! And dissolvable codiene if you can afford. Ibuprofen is also better that paracetamol for me

You can get something called Orajel, which really helps. It helped me when codeine wasn’t working. Solpediene max is also really good

Yes to Orajel ^^ from a pharmacy

Try putting oil of cloves on the affected tooth.

Refrosty · 08/02/2023 18:59

I find ibuprofen helps more than paracetamol

Theconceptoftime · 08/02/2023 18:59

Yes, ibuprofen is definitely better than paracetamol for toothache. Yes, warm salt rinse really helps and is cheap.

I have heard about garlic working as a natural antibiotic. You can also get garlic tablets in amazon but I have never tried them myself.

Also, try corsodol (not sure of the spelling).

Hot water bottle for instant relief.

Paramol or nurofen plus are the bomb for toothache.

But - if it's infected, it's not going to get better without antibiotics I'm afraid

didloswaggings · 08/02/2023 19:01

Orajel is very effective

snowballer · 08/02/2023 19:01

Orajel max strength too

didloswaggings · 08/02/2023 19:01

Also ibuprofen. Hope you find some relief soon toothache is the absolute pits

ISaidDontLickTheBin · 08/02/2023 19:03

Agree with pp that ibuprofen is better than paracetamol. But if it doesn't get better it will need a dentist. 111 should be able to get you emergency NHS treatment at low cost ( or free of your income is low enough).

BettyOBarley · 08/02/2023 19:04

Paramol (from chemist) and orajel max.

GreenWheat · 08/02/2023 19:04

I agree with all the suggestions but they will only relieve the symptoms and not address the cause. You really need to see a dentist.

Neonbug · 08/02/2023 19:20

The pain is kind of a dull ache in the top back right hand side- there all the time but worse on eating/drinking. I did think it could be wisdom teeth coming through but I’m probably too old for that at this point 😂

Thanks for all the tips! I’ll pick up some orajel and Ibuprofen and hope for the best!
