Daft question about data roaming

Forgive me... I haven't been abroad since before covid! I'm going to Europe, and the place I'm staying has no Wi-Fi.
My phone plan says that I can use my 'monthly allowances for no extra cost' so presumably I can WhatsApp and WhatsApp phone or video call using data and I won't be charged any extra (as long as I stick to my data allowance)? As well as use the internet?
TIA

That sounds right to me! You should be able to use your allowance for any internet based activities (google, WhatsApp, maps, video calls etc). As long as it's monthly allowances for no extra cost in the country you're staying in. Normally when you land somewhere new and connect to your phone again, you'll get sent a text from your provider saying "welcome to xxx" which will detail usage charges and other things 😊

You can normally turn a spend cap on too - say £10 or so, that means if you do go over your data roaming allowance it'll restrict access once you've spent £10 on further access. It's a good fail safe to prevent you being charged for extra use!

Fabulous! Thank you. Presumably international WhatsApp video calls or FaceTime use the same amount of data as calls within the same country?

Yes, although there may be a max amount you can use abroad. Eg. DS has a 100gb plan in the uk, but is only allowed to use 15gb of that abroad in any one month.

Which network? Some like O2 you may need to opt in.

It's Vodafone. It looks like they have a 25gb fair use policy for roaming. I have 15gb plan, which should be plenty if I avoid watching videos etc.
