Lost/stolen property at school

Morning,
My child goes to a small independent school (less than 200 pupils) and since he has been there has lost a large amount of uniform and personal items. These items never turn up in lost property. The latest being a Nike coat he got for Christmas and only had a week and Nike shin pads. All named. The school has been searched and I've emailed the lost property lady about 4 times. We have come to the conclusion these items have been taken. This has resulted in me being quite annoyed and telling my son off and it has created some tension at home as Las year he list a new blazerr, a bus pass, cash card, PE kit to name but a few things.the question is should I email the head to send out a reminder that if a pupil comes home with an item that is clearly not their child's then they should return it. Would i be received as complsining for no readon? As you can imagine the uniform for this school is not cheap. Even the second hand bits cost more than you would expect. TIA

How is your son losing all these items?
Where are they all going missing from?

I really don’t know why this should happen. When I was at school our coats hung in the cloakroom on our own peg, similarly our gym kit in the gym cloakroom. We kept our books in a desk in the classroom and as we all moved to different rooms anyone might be sitting at our desk. However, nothing ever went missing.

He leaves his jackets, bags and costs on the back of chairs or in classrooms. Gets called out for OT of Salt and when he remembers he goes back and things have disappeared. Its tough as he has memory difficulties and as he coat went missing at the start of January its clearly been stolen so I feel bad bringing it up to him. He had only had it a week.
I don't want to be 'that 'parent and complain. I know it's my/his responsibility for items and he should have gone in with a £5 coat and not an £80 one. He's scared to take anything else to school so I find it all hidden in his room.

kids. Basically. Picking on other kids. Happens to my DS too, when the teacher is not looking or he's out with his TA. Never happens to my other DC (who doesn't have SN). And according to the school it's always my DS's fault for not taking care of things as we know he has difficulty with organisation, time and memory.

My DS has had loads go missing. Last academic year his winter coat went missing in October and turned up in March and had obviously been worn a lot.

I've heard parents tell their children they need new school jumpers and to go take some from lost property.

I would raise it with the school.

I would also put AirTags in his blazer etc. and not send any "nice" items in to school.

One of my DC looses everything. It's not stolen, he genuinely leaves things wherever he goes and they never turn up. PE kits, coats, glasses etc never made it to lost property at school. There is nothing malicious going on, he's just slightly hopeless with things.

WhatNoRaisins · 08/02/2023 10:03

Could he be allowed to take all his belongings to his appointments?

The school doesn't have lockers? - for outdoor coats, PE kit, etc.

SO annoying. The parents are equally to blame 😡 Surely they must come across things that don't belong to their child and realise it must have come from school?? But they must think because it's a good brand "I'll keep it". It's disgusting.
