So many people I know are having damage caused to their cars by endless potholes.

Yes. It is shit.

Also your council tax is going up by ££££s.

PitYerTapOan · 07/02/2023 23:28

I found a family of ducks splashing around in one near me recently. I wish I was joking. They were quite comfy and tbh it did look like a fucking pond.

Spinxsta · 07/02/2023 23:29

Are you in Devon? Because unless you've navigated the chasms of Devon roads, you don't know you're born!

(Lighthearted)!

itsnicetbkind · 07/02/2023 23:30

Even the old chap with a three wheeler managed to hit one and damage his wheel.

Yes, the world is going to pot (hole).

Saw a guy taking a photo of one the other day, presumably to send to the council.

JugglingJanuary · 07/02/2023 23:36

So so so many!! Seems like a new one each day too. Partner had a tyre stripped in one. Friends partner did some real damage to the underneath if his car. Hampshire & Surrey councils.

Seriously thinking of just buying a farm tractor to navigate Staffordshire roads. Pot holes will swallow a small car.
On the local Facebook, people are questioning why cars have to be road worthy when the roads aren’t car worthy.

PitYerTapOan · 07/02/2023 23:51

We need rod Stewart on the case tbh.

What happened to the government's pothole action initiative a few years ago!? Hundreds of millions was meant to have been allocated to LAs to fix potholes and other road issues. I expect it all went on improving the roads around those 40 new hospitals.

I live in a area that boarders 3 councils. You can see the boundary lines in the tarmac when it goes from smooth race track to off roading chasms.

We used to drive on the left, now we drive on what's left!

Yes we live near a major A road. You can always tell the locals from the strangers. The strangers all drive in a straight line, we locals weave about because we know where the potholes are!

RudsyFarmer · 08/02/2023 09:34

Cracking thread. I’m chortling along whilst nodding as two big ones have opened up near me.

I'm Staffordshire too, so many people complaining online. Plus we have the added headache of roadworks on so many roads it's practically impossible to leave your house.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 08/02/2023 09:40

I reported one to the council a week ago and got a reply yesterday saying they couldn't find it so it might have already been filled in. I haven't been along that stretch of road since but I'm very concerned if it's still there and they can't find it, it was massive!

Bluevelvetsofa · 08/02/2023 10:03

It’s appalling round here too, as people weave in and out to avoid the worst of them. Not to mention the plethora of roadworks and temporary traffic lights, which appear not to have anyone actually doing any work.

ShirleyPhallus · 08/02/2023 10:05

We were talking about this the other day IRL, there are sooo many around us having opened up. A few have been filled in but lots and lots more opened up.

GettingStuffed · 08/02/2023 10:06

I once hear a rumour (from a reliable source) that contractors do a slideshow job so they'll have to do it again in a couple of years
