How do your children access the news?

Is the evening news still a thing? We don't have Tv license so don't watch any live coverage. My children are sometimes unaware of major events.

We subscribe to The Week Junior

We used to get the week junior but eldest got fed up during Brexit! Might get it again.
But it doesn't help them keep up to date - running a week behind. Was thinking about the earthquake and both were unaware - which happens often.
Will look for a news app for eldest but primary school child doesn't have a phone.
