School bullying, house price & Ofsted

A woman at our gym was recently telling a group of us that her DD (about 10) was being bullied at school for quite some time but the school refused to do anything about it (they have a reputation for this).

I suggested following the complaints process from their website and if necessary take it all the way to the Governors and Ofsted. She was shocked and said no way could she go to Ofsted because they might investigate and downgrade the school from Outstanding to Good and that would affect their house price/value. DH works in education and says Ofsted can actually do this.

I was disgusted that she puts more value on her house value than her child’s well-being and happiness but I wonder how many others think like her?

What a vile attitude to have and her DD won’t thank her for it in years to come.

That is truly a dreadful attitude. If her husband works in education he should know how to tackle the school re the bullying. She should go back to them with evidence and having read their anti bullying policy.

Wow.

I didn't even look at Ofsted when sending DS to school, he just went to the one in the catchment area. No idea what the rating is for his school.

Oh wow

@Beebumble2 sorry I meant it as my DH works in education, rather than her DH. My DH said he’s never heard such an abhorrent attitude from a parent regarding their child’s bullying. He told some colleagues and they were equally horrified.

That is ridiculous behaviour on the part of the mother. YANBU to think she is out of order.

I would certainly judge her for it.

Fabulous attitude to parenting there.

I doubt I would give a thought to my house value in that situation, I’d be going all out for my dc.

Oh sorry I got the wrong end of the stick!
I agree with everything your DH has said. Poor child.
