Any one traveled from Bristol airport recently

I've seen the cues from last year and am worried things may still be the same this year. We travel on bank holiday Monday of half term. They say arrive 2 hours before flight but should I get there earlier. As we need to park the car and I haven't been to the airport in years.

I've flown from Bristol and Gatwick so far this year. Neither had sizeable queues, in fact barely queued at all. We aim to be at the airport two hours with a half hour contingency for traffic.

Has anyone parked in the long stay car park. Do u think it will be hard trying to find a space early morning bank holiday

last two times we’ve flown from Bristol we’ve used the Silver zone car park. It’s been fine. It’s not a busy airport.

I've always managed to find a space in long stay- but prebook and use a discount code to make it cheaper. Recently have booked Silver Zone and found this really good.

Has anybody used the cheaper car parks there's one that meets you at drop in then takes car away? Then meets you when you are back. Are they reliable?

Haven't flown from there recently, but in general, Bristol is a great little airport!

GMOOH2023 · 03/03/2023 08:24

Flew into/out of Bristol over Christmas 23rd/30th December.

No problems at all, very straightforward, queueing time minimal. (I think there were border issues at some of the bigger airports as there was a strike at the time).

Can't help re parking though.

I used the silver zone carpark last May - at the point where there were dreadful warnings about queuing and so on - and it was fine, but a bit slower than usual dropping off keys and picking them back up. It looked as if they were training new staff at the time, so hopefully that's no longer a problem Definitely worth booking in advance, though. If they're saying arrive 2 hours before the flight, I'd take that to mean arrive at the airport having parked the car 2 hours before the flight, myself - and I'd add another 1/2 hour to park, drop off keys, get on shuttle bus etc etc.

If you're flying with easy jet or Ryanair and you arrive early they will send you away until the specified checkin time. If they want you there earlier they text you. I've flown from Bristol hundreds of times and with the exception of last year it's quick and easy.
Definitely pre book parking (or if you live reasonably close it's worth weighing up if a taxi is cheaper overall).

@Tasha00 we recently flew from Bristol airport and I was shocked at how long all the queues were in February!

We always allow plenty of time and arrived a good three hours before our flight and had already checked in online, as others have said we weren't allowed to check in the bags when we arrived so waited 40 minutes for that to open. We needed to check in our bags and that took 40 minutes after the check in opened! We then queued to go through security and that took another 45 minutes.

So all in all once we had got through to departures we only had 50 minutes before our flight which was just enough time to get a Burger King for the hungry kids.

Parking at the long stay car park was easy and I don't think you'll struggle to find a spot.

If you have the option to take the fast track to go through security quicker I would definitely take it, I had the option when I booked to do it for £6 each, and after spending hours in one queue or another I wish I'd booked it.

par05 · 03/03/2023 20:52

Did you precooked the parking ? Or just paid when you got there? I'm wondering whats cheaper? As have seen online cheaper parking but not at the airport?

ShellieEllie · 03/03/2023 20:58

I flew out of Bristol with Easyjet a couple of weeks ago. There was a very small queue at baggage self check in, and absolutely no queue at security.

KnickerlessParsons · 03/03/2023 21:06

I flew domestic from Bristol on Tuesday, back yesterday.
No queues - almost no one at check in.
The plane was half empty going out and coming back.

Definitely pre-book we booked through holiday extras and its slightly cheaper, also have the option to cover for extra 48hrs in case you're delayed only £3 extra so definitely worth it.

KnickerlessParsons · 03/03/2023 22:16

Short stay parking from 11 on Tuesday morning to 6pm Thursday was £83 if that helps.

par05 · 11/03/2023 22:56

Thank you, opted to pre book silver zone purple parking from, Sunday morning to Thurs night, with the extra for delays. Cost £75.
