Double standards - Miley Cyrus video

The song and video are widely believed to be about her ex-husband with many references to their relationship and divorce. It’s generally been praised as strong, feminist, sending a great message and all that stuff.

Justin Timberlake did the same thing with Cry Me A River and was generally criticised for it to the extent he issued an apology to Britney Spears in recent years for being misogynistic.

Is this double standards? Should we be thinking about how Hemsworth might feel? Or are women so generally oppressed by men that one ‘getting their own back’ (as such) is not the same?

I don't agree with Justin having to apologise so no, I don't think it's double standards. I think it's cancel culture that got him and she probably would've got the same if she released it during the time that particular mob was around. I have the same opinion on sweet Caroline but hey ho.

Just watched the video, wasn't clear whose house she is in and although she puts a 'man's suit' on, it probably ain't Hemsworth's as the trousers fit her too well.

Doesn't seem stalkery, it seems empowering.

Difference is its believed to reference her marriage, she hasn't actually put a Hemsworth lookalike in there to make it blatantly obvious it is. Justin did. The videos are very different as @DontBuyANewMumCashmere has pointed out.
