Found out yesterday and I feel sick, can't concentrate on anything else, feel so anxious and panicky.

Just looking for a handhold from anyone who might have experience of this operation really.

Is it open heart or are they going through her groin? I work as part of the team in the surgeries through the groin, but not open heart.

I don't know yet. She only got the phone call from the GP yesterday to say she had the results of the scan and would need an operation, but has to wait for the hospital to get in touch to find out the details because the GP isn't an expert.

My mum had a mechanical valve fitted 20 years ago, it’s still going strong!

My elderly dad is getting a stent soon OP. It's understandable that you are anxious but this type of procedure is very routine and should bring some much needed relief from the chest pain. I find watching Bob and Paul living their best lives on Gone Fishing having both had heart problems is enormously cheering.

Thanks everyone. I'm so anxious. I don't know how to deal with the intrusive thoughts. This is horrible. Feel sick and can't eat. Not sure how I can do this for weeks.
