Radio stations that do time checks and no adverts

Are there any that check time early morning and have no ads and don't involve Zoe Ball ?

Used to love Chris Evans on R 2. Then he moved. I can't tolerate ZB. Tried Chris on virgin but he never mentions the time particularly between 6.30 -730 am.

I remember capital ratio with Chris tartans when I was at school they mentioned the time constantly. I need this!

Any BBC station at breakfast time.

We have either radio 4 or six.

Also local BBC radio

If you don’t want adverts it will have to be the BBC. All other stations have to have adverts to survive

pastabest · 07/02/2023 09:52

Your local bbc news station.

AngelDelightUK · 07/02/2023 09:53

And if you go on BBC Sounds you can pick what area you’d like to listen to. It’s fun sometimes picking a different area

Thanks will try my local bbc. I like that at other times. Not sure why I'd not thought of it for morning alarm
Thank you.

BBC stations all have a news bulletin on the hour and half hour, they’ll give a time check then.

R4 will often do time checks between the interviews

loudbatperson · 08/02/2023 07:24

I echo the above, R4. The today program in the morning gives very frequent time checks.

HavfrueDenizKisi · 08/02/2023 07:27

Radio 4 does time checks throughout the Today programme each morning.

CaramelMach · 08/02/2023 07:57

Thank you. I will have to give radio 4 a go - not sure it's wake up material though 😊

Remember that any radio station played via any "smart" speaker will be delayed if your time checks need to be precise!

LindorDoubleChoc · 08/02/2023 08:14

Just out of curiosity, why do you need the time checks?

UnicorseTime · 08/02/2023 08:18

Get an Alexa? Ask Alexa to tell you time or set 6minute/whatever interval alarms.

Then listen to whatever radio you want!

I lie in bed catatonic with alarms buzzing, lights on and radio on but fail to get up as I think it's still 615 am
Someone telling me the time would be just very helpful !

Alexa may not work as I already have alarms etc.

Obvious answers to this would be earlier bed etc but that's not possible. Or getting up immediately 😲

Symptom of my age, my health and additional needs kids meaning not enough sleep is ever available.
