This is really bugging me, I can't check on imdb either as I can't remember any of the cast.
Film is set in America, its based around an attack that happens on a single mum during the 4th July celebrations, she's attacked by a group of brothers whilst she walks home in a wooded area, she has her daughter with her.
When it comes to the trial I think they get off but the parents use their house as a bond or something so the sons stay out of prison until the trial.
The detective knows they won't get convicted so goes about getting his own justice. I think he shoots one of them because he goads them into reaching for his gun. The other I'm sure he chased to the border and I think kills him and leaves his car as abandoned so it looks like he's done a runner and the parents obviously lose the house.
Does that sound familiar to anyone at all?
