What to put in them? I get that noise makers and slime will not make me popular with parents! This is for 4/5 year olds

I try not to put too much plastic tat in them. Things that have gone down well are:

Packs of crayons
Mini notebooks
Wildflower seeds
Bubbles
Stickers or temporary tattoos
Pretty hair slides or bobbles if applicable
Bar of chocolate or individual packs of biscuits
Giant marbles
Keyrings
Cartons of juice
Small packs of Haribo sweets
Sachets of hot chocolate powder
Gel pens
Slice of the birthday cake, naturally!

Obviously not all of that but I usually do some sort of combination of those.

I always went with stationery and sweets. One of the best we went to gave each DC a soft football (these are still in use here 5 years later).

Needmorelego · 06/02/2023 13:36

Hot Wheels Car
Packet of Smarties
Piece of the cake
(I say this on every thread like this 🤣)

GlamGiraffe · 06/02/2023 13:38

A book
Colouring book and pencils or sticker book set

Marcipex · 06/02/2023 14:43

Temporary tattoos
Hotwheel car
Smarties or Haribo
Cute keyring

Marblessolveeverything · 06/02/2023 14:48

"cool" stationery, sweets, puzzles, art supplies, voucher for ice cream at local coffee shop. Vintage comics went down well - bought a job lot.__

Notjustabrunette · 06/02/2023 14:48

I just go for sweets. Everything else ends up in the bin anyway.

  • sticker sheet

Wow! Since when does MN have bullet point formatting?!

Got DS's 5th birthday party at the weekend and I'm going to put in a carton of juice, smarties, kinder bar, a Super Mario rubber bracelet (I did rubber bracelets for one of DD's parties and she said they were the most liked thing in the party bag, all the kids were wearing them at school for a few weeks) and a couple of Lego shaped fidger poppers. Debating whether or not to add a bottle of bubbles or not.

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 06/02/2023 14:56

Small note book and pencil
I’d so rather plastic tat over endless sweets- party bags that are just sweets are a nightmare

ginnyrose56 · 06/02/2023 14:59

Mine is for 5/6 year olds but we have:
Haribo
Slice of cake
Then in the theme of the party:
Pencil
Rubber
Temp tattoo
Ruler
Mini notebook

beansmeanz · 06/02/2023 15:02

A piece of cake. don't go to the expense of buying plastic, and the kids get enough sweets/sugar - save yourself the time and agro I say!!!!

beansmeanz · 06/02/2023 15:03

ps if we lived in a country where kids were not endlessly spoilt I'd say go for it, but kids get so much - mine used to take one looked at party bag contents and then it would just end up as toot on the floor!

SpottyStripyDuvet · 06/02/2023 15:08

You can get 10 books for £10 from The Works for this age group

scrivette · 06/02/2023 15:13

Cake
Packet of smarties/chocolate buttons
Stickers
Keyring

I don't like sweets in a party bag

Hodgewell1 · 06/02/2023 15:28

I did this recently and it seemed to
go down very well with children and parents. Hopefully won’t end up in landfill

Wedonttalkaboutbrunomars · 06/02/2023 19:17

thank you all for the ideas! @Hodgewell1 is there supposed to be a photo on your post?

Luana1 · 07/02/2023 12:27

We gave these recently which went down really well, but it was a small party so it didn't break the bank too much. Not really financially feasible for an all class party though, unless you have a big budget!
