The world, if everyone were like you (lighthearted!)

What would your local world look like if everyone were like you? Lighthearted things please, yes we all want peace etc but… And it doesn’t need to make complete sense either :-)

These are some things I think would happen in my world:

No cars, but lots of buses/taxis/trams/trains etc
Very few town/city cafés, but more of them in rural areas (for breaks when walking)
No fashion trends. People would walk around in jeans and T-shirts/sweaters most of the time
Lots of colourful clothes (lots of stripy things) and fewer grey/black/dark blue items
No shoes with heels higher than, say, an inch
No make-up and fewer hairdressers
Hardly any new ’electronic’ music but lots of new instrumental music
Very few clothes shops
Loads of shops selling outdoors stuff
Loads of second hand shops (yes, not sure how this goes together with few clothes shops for new clothes…)
Loads of bookshops
Shops where you can borrow tools instead of buying them would crop up everywhere
Everyone would chat with each other sometimes at bus stops, on the bus, train etc
Shops would have to employ a lot of new staff to deal with people complaining about and asking for refunds about incorrect price tags on shelves (or they could just ensure that the system has the right price noted!)
No tobacco or drugs
No litter anywhere ever
Lots of TV-programmes and radio programmes that would teach people various things/discuss things (David Attenborough etc, question time, news, repair shop…)
Also lots of light hearted TV programmes that are not based on humiliating people or ’voting someone out’ in nasty ways
No films or thrillers with lots of shooting and no horror movies :-)

What would the world look like if everyone had your taste and desires?

Dogs would wear muzzles outside their owner’s property, even if they are ‘only playing’.

kimchifix · 06/02/2023 12:34

The world would probably grind to a halt and chaos would ensue. Not something to aspire to, so I'm eternally grateful that not everyone is like me.

PacificallyRequested · 06/02/2023 12:42

It would be very quiet, and there would be no dogs. Heaven!

Dogs everywhere. No people except dow my family and other animals.

Shops to include a cheese monger.

Mintakan · 06/02/2023 12:44

Kids are only grown on a far off island and “released” when they’re 21

bathbombaholic · 06/02/2023 12:45

Not the light hearted answer you were looking for but infertility would not bloody exist!!

walking · 06/02/2023 14:08

Interesting with one world with dogs everywhere and one without :-)
I'd go for the one without and it'd be silent too just like @PacificallyRequested suggests!

Sorry OP but I'm a petrol head so cars everywhere 🤣

Apart from that, pretty similar to you. Fashion would be what's comfy, sensible and what makes you happy. Outdoorsy pursuits would be the thing to do. Definitely no scary films or stupid nasty popularity contest TV shows.

Parisj · 06/02/2023 19:39

Lots of things would have been started, but none finished

stbrandonsboat · 06/02/2023 20:02

Lots of cats
No crime
No excessive chatting
No public transport
No parties
Nice gardens
Comfy clothing and shoes
No makeup
No hairstyling
Lots of crochet, painting and nice colours everywhere
Lots of trees
No litter or mess
Peace and quiet everywhere
Visits to Church
Not much consumerism
Coffee and scones
Lots of vitamins

DuchessOfDisco · 06/02/2023 20:10

It would total and utter chaos with everything being left till the last minute and everyone running around like a headless chicken
whilst also being so incredibly chilled and laid back
painfully polite and socially awkward
no pubs/no alcohol/no smoking/no drugs
no crime
librarys everywhere
celebrations and festivals every week
it would be loud and be quiet, crazy and calm, extroverted introvert
quality over quantity
music and dancing everywhere
But everyone would be permanently skint

sammylady37 · 06/02/2023 20:14

There would be no inefficient faffing around and no needy people who text incessantly

Houselamp · 06/02/2023 20:22

If everyone were like me, then everyone would be harboring a secret wish that the world still dressed like it was 18th century, but wouldn't want to be the only one doing it.
And presumably if every thinks like that enough of us would talk about it to get it started. So we would all be in big long dresses and corsets and all the men would wear shirts and hats.
Everyone would be far too hot- but it would be fun

Spudlet · 06/02/2023 20:33

Many dogs. All the dogs! Lots of access to the countryside and the outdoors and lots of chances for children to try new things like climbing, mountain biking, swimming, riding - whatever they fancied. Lots of happy ponies too. Lots more forests, cleaner rivers.

On the downside, no one would ever get anything done because we’d all be procrastinating wildly every time any job we didn’t really fancy needed doing 😂

ALongHardWinter · 06/02/2023 20:55

There would be cats absolutely everywhere.

Time40 · 06/02/2023 20:57

No violence, no crime, no litter, no sport on TV, no dogs.

New lidos popping up everywhere and loads of vintage shops.

Time40 · 06/02/2023 20:59

We're very split, aren't we, between a world with dogs and a world with no dogs!

JamSandle · 06/02/2023 21:01

No alcohol or drugs

People could keep whatever hours they wanted

Whacky coloured houses

Cartoons would be popular with adults

No tea drinkers

More trees and flowers!

hryllilegur · 06/02/2023 21:03

What a dreadful thought. It would be total chaos. 😱

croupy · 06/02/2023 21:04

Cushion manufacture would be a big industry, as would slippers, thermals etc.

Grime music would hardly ever be played on the radio.

Chocolate tasting, chocolate shops would be everywhere.

LightDrizzle · 06/02/2023 21:04

If we are going back historically, we still wouldn’t have the wheel.

Underadandelion · 06/02/2023 21:11

Lots of cafes and coffee shops because I like them but no food or drinks because coffee machines and sharp knives are stressful, dangerous and difficult.

No cars (also stressful, dangerous and difficult)

Lots of books, new ones that smell nice.

Everyone would wear stripy tops and combat trousers and have uncontrollable hair.

Everyone would meander around daydreaming and discussing philosophical abstract concepts before trying to find if anyone knows how to cook a curry or take the bins out.

People would meet up to play board games and sing funny songs while playing guitar. Then that's the socialising sorted for a couple of weeks.

There would be a lot of talk about making the world a better place followed by vague looking around for someone who's good at making notes and getting things done.

People would notice and enjoy birds singing and wonder out loud in an annoying way what type of bird that might be without ever really bothering to go and look it up.

AuntieJoyce · 06/02/2023 21:12

Every school would have a Nit nurse.

The road planning team at Leeds city council would all be sacked and they would reopen Briggate so that you could drive off the M1 straight up through the town centre to North Leeds like the good old days.

junebirthdaygirl · 06/02/2023 21:17

No one would ever be late

Absolutely no litter anywhere

No tattoos ever

People would sit around reading books instead of getting on with stuff

Everyone would make loads of goals but never stick it out tto achieve them.

Everyone would think they were budgeting well but there never would be money in their accounts

No ones house would be pristine clean so no cleaning up for visitors

CurrentHun · 06/02/2023 21:23

A three day week
new and accessible and safe beautiful staffed 24hr parks with facilities for all ages and interests- free for everyone to use whenever they want.
free, frequent and amazing public transport
a square or open meeting place for every community with things like community barbecues, ovens and loads of seating and no cars allowed.
free school meals and free community meals for whoever wants and needs
new massive arts and music and nightclub venues available for anyone to use at very low cost
I’d make learning loads of different languages compulsory so we could chat more with people in other countries and travel and live in different places easily.
the national dish would be plates of cheese and biscuits and chutney. Or maybe hot toast covered with butter and Marmite.
