Anyone that's had one out, how long did the pain last? Had it done last Tuesday and really thought I'd be better by now but pain up jaw, into ear...

Was it a top or bottom tooth?

I had a bottom one removed in October, it was fully grown under the skin, joined to my jaw. Was done under local anesthetic, had to cut the bone a bit, 4 stitches.

I had awful pain for 2 weeks after it, mainly in my jaw and ear, took an age for the nerves to settle down. I had only taken 2 days off work but was out for 2 weeks, I was very unprepared for the recovery and pain.

only advice is to keep taking pain killers, I had a bag of ice up against my face all day.

I feel ya, it is not pleasant at all!

It was a bottom tooth and yes, they had to break it 1st. I took one day off work and back since. But it's awful

Could be dry socket? I had a wisdom tooth out this time last year (impacted, had to break it into pieces and lots of stitches) and I ended up with dry socket which had me climbing the walls. I went back to the dentist and they stuffed the socket with cloves and I had to go back every other day three or four times to get it changed. The cloves tasted awful but it was immediate relief and I could tell when I was due to get them changed as the pain came back. Sorry that you're going through this. It's horrible

I had pain after I had mine removed but not for that long, can you see a dentist to get it checked? If they say it’s just taking time, I found corsodyl mouthwash really helped.

Thank you. In Ireland today so bank holiday, no dentist. I'll give it another couple of days and go from there

The pain was so bad after 4 days I thought I had dry socket and went back to get it checked, thankfully it wasn’t.

you poor thing @TheFutureFreaksMeOut , that sounds awful. I nearly gagged when you said it was packed with cloves!

IForgotOurSong · 06/02/2023 11:06

Do you have 111 in Ireland? Could they help you with a dentist? I really feel for you, tooth pain is the worst in my opinion.

Insideallday · 06/02/2023 11:07

I think you should ring your dentist in the morning and get it checked. And get a prescription for a stronger painkiller too!
