How to grow a thick skin.

I live in a small, tiny village where one of the neighbours can bevtoxic and nasty. She invites conflict into her life and seems to thrive on it. She has an entourage of supporters, think mean girls in their 60's and 70's with not much else going on in their lives. I do my best to ignore their judgements , one has taken to posting passive aggressive messages everywhere, another has spread lies about my family. I am a quiet and respectful neighbour with a busy life. My problem is how to not let it bother me. This morning I met one of these women at the bins and said hello, without thinking as it's kinda normal and she just blanked me. This women is my neighbour, has only lived here s year and knows nothing about me but has been swept up into the mean girls tribe. How can I grow a thick skin, so I don't feel hurt by this.

OP. You can't change their behaviour just how you respond.

They are obviously unpleasant, so stop worrying what they think. Their opinion has no worth because of where it comes from. Tbh I would just laugh out loud when I saw them, but if you aren't too happy with that, head up and ignore.

I try to do this, it's just the ongoing nasty vibes that overtime are grinding me down. I wish I didn't care, it's just so hard to compute why people would choose to be mean and nasty, for example there's a back path through a little copse I take to walk to my friends house. A mean neighbour actually built a stupid little wall of rocks to try and stop me walking that way, even though it's not her land and it's about 20 m from the end of her long garden. It's kinda insane and I need to learn to laugh about it again.

Write down all of their antics (e.g. building the stupid wall), exaggerate them excessively, use them to write an extremely successful children's book that makes you rich beyond your wildest dreams and dedicate the book to them
