M4 parking London

We love a trip to London in half terms but the train is so expensive. It's gone up loads since last year.
I'm thinking of driving part of the way and then taking a train the rest of the way.
Id love some suggestions of stations near the M4 corridor where we can park for the day.
Or any other cheap suggestions for travel from Wales/Bristol to London?

Parking close to the station for the day will cost you
plus trains
Plus tube

I would just go for the train from your local station.

will take the edge off a fun day out of becomes a big hassled, especially at the end of the day

I come in on the same route as you, and park at Osterley tube station, on the A4, just off the M4. It’s then an easy run into central London on the Piccadilly line.

Presuming like me your local station is walking distance from your home of course!

The Elizabeth Line runs from Reading to central London, I am not sure of the parking, or other nearby stations but putting it out as something for you to investigate.

Just to add, parking is cheap at Osterley - £7 weekdays, £4 Saturdays and £2 Sundays.

Thanks @HyacinthineMacaw I'll take a look.

Yes our local station is tony so we go to a slightly less tiny one and we still need to change at a bigger station so it's pretty faffy anyway.
