So the last few days I've noticed my hair is really starting to shed, it's only fine as it is so I'm worrying I'm going to end up bald !! My hair brush is full when I brush my hair !
I'm 4 months pp - when can I Expect it to stop ??

My hair loss peaked around 4 months, now at 6 months I think it's slowing down. Overall my hair only feels slightly thinner, it's my hope the rate of loss will be back to normal by 1 year so just need to last until then 😬
Annoying as this is my second and never had the issue with my first.

Weirdly I don't remember this with my first either, it was a long time ago but still ! I've noticed it mainly around my hairline by my temples. So kind of around my ears if that makes sense ? Where did you notice your hair loss from ? I mean what part of your head ?

It's horrible but it will come back. Mine was worst above my ears too. A ponytail was not a good look for a few months! Seeing photos now it really wasn't as obvious as it felt.

I had bits of baby hair all over, looked so frazzled. It’s fine now nearly 2 years later, it grows back.

I am 5.5 months PP and I noticed massive hair loss around my hairline around 3 months PP. I was so self conscious as my hairline totally changed especially on the temples I looked like I was receding. I started taking biotin daily and now my hair is growing back is around 3cm
Or more long now in the areas where it shed and is much less noticeable

I had hair loss related to medication - definitely recommend biotin, it's made a noticeable difference.

@davegrohll - when I was pregnant, we were told that, during pregnancy, we didn't lose hair at the same rate as when not pregnant, which explains why your hair can feel so much thicker while you are pregnant. Once you give birth, things go back to normal, and you lose all that hair that you didn't lose during the pregnancy - hence seeing a worrying amount of hair loss.

Can anyone recommend some biotin I should be taking? Dosage etc ? I don't really know where to start.

I do take a daily multivitamin which is mainly iron and magnesium, but I really need to add in some vitamin d too because when I looked on the back of the tub it said there was only 0.5mg of vitamin d in there !!

Mine took several months. Try not to brush it too vigorously, I used a wide tooth comb when it really needed it. No blow drying if you are pulling at roots. Also dry shampoo made it a lot worse. Eat well, try not to worry about it, it will pass, congratulations on your baby xx

Zippedydoo123 · 06/02/2023 10:20

It took a couple of months in my case.

sunseaandme · 06/02/2023 15:08

@davegrohll I got this one which is 2 tablets a day

I'm 4M pp and I use head and shoulders shampoo, always have. I put around 10 drops each of both rosemary and clove oil into the shampoo bottle and shook it up. I use that and once I've lathered it up in my scalp I leave it for around 2 or 3 mins before rinsing. Seems to have helped abit and slow down the hairloss
