Travelling around London- advice please.

Hi all,
We (me, DH & DD aged 8) are off to London in half term. Were staying in a Premier Inn near a tube station (zone 3) what’s the best way to use the Tube? Is it best to pay per day/journey or look at a weekly pass. It seems like a mine field! Any advise or tips for London also welcome.

If you are just using (tube or buses) and have contactless debit/credit cards then just use those. You 'beep' at the beginning and end of a tube journey and just when you get on a bus. You will then get charged the price cap daily which is the cheapest way.
You and your husband needs a card each - you can't share a card.
Your 8 year old goes for free.
However...if you are using trains (in parts of South London there's no tube - you have to use trains instead) your 8 year old will need a ticket.
Are you 100% certain you won't be going on a train route?

Contactless pay as you go; just use your debit cards (you will need one each for you and DH). DD goes free on tubes and buses (but not mainline trains without a pass). Just take her through the big gate on the tube with you.

It’s so easy really. Your daughter will travel for free she can walk through the big gate with one of you. You and DH need a contactless card each and you just tap in and out. There is a daily fare cap which is automatic so you won’t pay more than you should.

Download Citymapper - it has all transport tubes/trains/buses/Uber boats and will take you door to door including walking directions. It’s fab!
