Help me work out what I'm looking for... text messaging system

Bearyhumcrack · 04/02/2023 15:59

I'd like to scope setting up a system for staff to text when they have a concern. Sort of like the British transport police number (61016- see it, say it, sorted).

Im writing a business case but the problem is, I don't actually know what I'm after- like what is the system called?

we have online forms and paper ones but this will hopefully complement the current system.

Why have you been given this responsibility? Seems perhaps better for someone who actually has even the faintest idea about this to be the one to do the business case?! 😂

Whatislove82 · 04/02/2023 16:02

Just a vague concern?

or one relating to colleagues?

stress?

whistleblowing?

bowel movements?

SecretVictoria · 04/02/2023 16:02

Something like non-emergency alert? Call it that, I’d know what you mean.

Whatislove82 · 04/02/2023 16:03

Is this the job where you weee accused of posting on someone’s linked in? I remember the epically long thread!

I have moved on from there! Complaint still ongoing... there's a new thread somewhere!

Well, you've got to start somewhere. Just because we haven't recruited someone who knows what the system is called yet, doesn't mean we shouldn't do safeguarding...

All of the above, less bowel movements.

Ok so you need to have some kind of parameters

as who will be on the other end of the line? Some kind of guru who can answer any or everything?

op, are you sure you’re the right person to be doing this?

Espanolespie · 04/02/2023 16:34

Safeguarding? Who are you safeguarding? Is it meant to be anonymous?

I know it needs parameters, I know it will be a triage system, I know all of these things... what I don't know is what the system is called. I have searched dozens of sites and terms but can't establish what the system is called.

It seems you have to know all of the things in the world in order to achieve anything on mumsnet!!

@Whatislove82 , do you know everything? In which case, can you help me find the name of the system I am looking for?

Service users. Why does it make a difference who we are trying to safeguard? Or am I not allowed to try to improve process because I don't know what a specific reporting mechanism is called?

Op
I am not putting together a business case for something you don’t know the name of and asking a parenting forum for the name of it! 😂

Good luck!

Is this the kind of thing you're looking for?

(Nothing to do with me, just the first hit on Google for text based whistleblowing services)

ginslinger · 04/02/2023 16:48

I have no idea why some people are being so rude here.
I'm afraid I have no idea what it's called either but there might be some useful stuff here
statswiki.unece.org/display/GORM/4.2+Establishing+reporting+mechanisms

I would use a working title of 'single number reporting mechanism'

Is this in addition to statutory safeguarding procedures? I'd be a bit wary of getting involved unless its something that runs alongside that!

Yes, 100%. Because a lot of the work is "in the field", staff had fed back that being able to send a "bookmark" which would allow them to set up an appointment/call/etc for when they return would be useful. Rather than being distracted by a phone call. A quick text message would help. Plus we have staff like drivers, caretakers, porters etc who would be more likely to send a text than fill in a slip. It's about trying to capture everyone's concerns without worrying about their literacy levels or the fact they've only got a few seconds.
