Forgotten passport stories...

My DH left for a week away today.

Last night I thought I would be super helpful, and got the European plug adapters out from where we keep them, and whilst I was at it I got his passport for him too.

He came in, saw the plugs, thanked me and then said 'Christ, I honestly hadn't given the fact I need my passport a second thought, I would have left without it!'

Obviously, alls well that ends well, but it made me think - has anyone turned up at the airport without their passport? Were you able to go get it in time? Or did you miss out completely?

I once got a phone call from DH at work to bring his passport in... an hour before he was due to leave and I wasn't home (office 20mins drive from our house). Made it fortunately!

My husband forgot his passport on our honeymoon….we were travelled to Scandinavia without it thanks to the kindness of officials. A few nail biting moments in a police office once we got off the ferry. This was is 1991 though!

I once took my son's passport to the airport instead of mine by mistake. Didn't even look at it for some reason. Got all the way to airport handed it over to check in agent and she said "that's not you". Never felt a drop in the stomach like it. Was for a work trip and had to rebook flight and do a 4 hr round trip to get my passport!

Many years ago, we went on a ski trip with university. There were two buses and apparently on the other bus, a girl who was from the EU and not the UK hadn't realised she would need her passport to travel to France! She hid in the toilets in the bus apparently and the person in charge just showed the other ones. I would have been absolutely petrified. Don't know how they did it, but she did go on the trip. This was the story I was told when we got there, so it maybe wasn't true. Glad I didn't know about it anyway!
