Looks like a normal orange, which bit are you referring to?

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 04/02/2023 15:53

That brown bit

This bit

Looks like a maggot 😬

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 04/02/2023 15:55

It's not moving but looks like some kind of insect

OP posts:
teaandtoastwithmarmite · 04/02/2023 15:55

@magicstones that's what I thought. I'm going to bin it and get another.

Yup! I'd do the same!

isthismylifenow · 04/02/2023 15:56

It's a worm.

Great source of protein.

Did you pick the orange or buy it from a shop?

Allthegoodnamesarechosen · 04/02/2023 15:57

It’s a maggot or possibly a caterpillar since it is probably from a moth. But it’s dead. Put it out for the birds, something will snap it up.🐛

They were from Asda. Where would I have picked it from lol

Feel bad now. I threw it in the bin. I'm not letting it put me off as I love oranges and need to lose weight

Either a maggot or pupae. It shouldn't be in there in you need to complain. Take as many pictures as possible as evidence, sent an email to head office.

I think you have the right attitude, bin that orange but carry on enjoying them!

A tree ...

If op had an orange grove in her back garden, she'd probably have mentioned it.

Why would she probably mention it? That information wouldn't be required for what she wanted to find out.

Alighttouchonthetiller · 04/02/2023 16:17

Fuck's sake. Now we'll have fifteen pages of squabbling about orange trees and whether they are worthy of mentioning.

Keep enjoying oranges, OP.

HotWaterBottleAndABook · 04/02/2023 16:40

“If nothing is eating your fruit/ garden then it’s not part of the ecosystem “

(not sure who the - not-quit-correct - quote is from)

We have become too unused to insects around our fruit and vegetables, sadly.

She could have been worried that her crop had failed 😂

Oh yeah, I forgot that Mumsnet are experts on crop failures.😂

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 04/02/2023 19:57

Loving the convo about whether I have an orange tree. I'd actually love one but probably not the right climate 😂
