Taking an Adult friend out for the day.. any ideas?

This is gonna sound dumb, but i have a friend coming to visit tomorrow, and i have no idea what to do with them.

I'm not used to going out with people over 16 and under 70... when i go out with local friends we just tend to hang on the local coffee shop and chat all day.. or do the same in each others houses.

They're coming from a couple of hours away and we've got about 6 hours to kill

What would you do/where would you go?

Well, where do you live? When I go out with friends, we tend to go and do something -art gallery, museum, theatre, cinema, a long walk in a park, or around the city. I wouldn’t meet someone in a coffee shop -though we might drop in on one as part of the day out.

It depends what you both like doing really (& the weather). Country walk & pub lunch?
Art gallery or museum & afternoon tea?
National Trust property or gardens?
Rugby on the television in a pub?

I would do a walk and a pub lunch- maybe ring and book somewhere today.
For walks you blink do National Trust or look for nature reserves near you.
Or a wander round an art gallery/museum depending on where you live. Then eat in a cafe.
Or a nice cinema- eg Everyman type followed by food.

So how can we possibly suggest anything?

Go to the beach. Oh I'm not near a beach.

Go for a walk in the woods. No woods near me.

Go for a coffee. No coffee shops near me.

Art gallery. Nope, none.

Play Scrabble. Nah, hate it.

Escape room. None near me.

Garden Centre. Too far.

Etc etc ad infinitum.
