Whittard has become unaffordable

I have been buying things from there since I was a child. I even recall bulk orders as a student. I visited recently and I could not believe how expensive it has become. I do believe that the quality is still excellent. I loved their flavoured hot chocolate in particular - no nasties in the list of ingredients. Could anybody suggest affordable alternatives?

I stock up in the sale after Christmas. They also have outlet shops that I have been too. In general yes it is pricey and I wouldn't buy from there at full price unless it was for a gift. Have you tried some of the more premium stuff from the supermarkets?

Thanks. I didn't spot any reductions on teas/hot chocolates in the sale, just crockery. I could check on the website to see if there are any outlets near me. I have tried supermarket stuff but it is not all good quality and there isn't really any substitute for the cold tea drinks. I really want to continue supporting the brand but not at that cost!

I didn't think anyone bought their actual every day tea etc from there. I always thought it was more just gifts, hence why expensive, because of the packaging etc.

@Sceptre86 Thanks for recommending the outlets. I stocked up today on heavily reduced Christmas fare and some nice crockery!

They do discounts for students if you have any in the family. I got my daughter to buy me my last lot of tea.

Can’t help with the tea but Pendragon makes great hot choc, looks like it’s cheaper a bit than whittards? Better value if you buy larger bags so try the smaller ones and see if you like them. The website is v basic but the choc is great. We like the Dark Spice and the Dark Orange.

Thanks. I do not have access to student discounts yet (so frustrating!). I have tried to find a way for DCs but I hit a brick wall every time.

I'll definitely check out Pendragon, thanks for the suggestion.
