Which impossible birthday wishes have your DC had?

Mine wants a pet or a letter to Hogwarts 😩 Nothing else. If you have any advice on managing expectations and disappointment or what to give an 11 year old, I'm all ears!

I know it's not a budget option but what about the Harry Potter tour? My friend bought the 'map' from eBay and hid the tickets in the middle of it for Christmas one year!

One of my DC once asked for some bone marrow for a friend who needed some 😭. I think he was turning four and was firmly of the belief that you got ANYTHING you asked for. There was a drive for possible donors and when it was explained to him he said 'oh, I'll just ask for bone marrow for my birthday then' , which he did.

For your DC, some other Harry Potter themed present? The tour or the show?

@FTM2022SS we're too far away unfortunately, and I can't see any shows any where near us.

One of mine asked for a “red present” once. I don’t think we ever worked out what he had in mind so just wrapped his presents in red paper.

dd wanted to go to japan, 20 years later she is going there this summer!

youngest dd wanted wooden flooring in the downstairs.
so she got that! she was is very demanding

My DS asked to be a lonely child, not sure what I was meant to do with older and younger siblings. He suggested we gave the others to other family members and just took them on holidays with us as he'd be bored without them 🤔

Ds wanted two remote controlled planes with heatseeking missiles.
Apparently because they'd only fire at each other (obviously being heatseeking!) then it would be totally safe using them in the local park.

Thing from Addams family/Wednesday. Apparently all I need to do is cut someone's hand off and electrocute it.
Can't see any ethical or health and safety issues there! It's just spot of grave robbing and necromancy, apparently not doing this is evidence that I don't really love them.

A ride on unicorn, ideally real. She did accept a real one would be tricky though. Turns out you can get massive furry ride on ones that move as you bounce up and down! She got a rocking horse instead and that was well loved.

You can buy personalised letters from Hogwarts from the online store, come with the writing in green ink on the envelope and everything....
I got one for DD for her 11th birthday last year and it came addressed to Miss Blah Blah, Bedroom on the right at the top of the stairs...

My friend was frantically searching for a doll who walked and talked (and some other stuff I can't remember). She asked on our WhatsApp chat and another mum recognised the list of criteria from a doll which was on either Peppa Pig or Ben and Holly 😂. I don't know what she did about that in the end as I don't think the doll existed irl
