Evening.

Really struggling so thought I'd turn to Mumsnet for suggestions.

Need a new car within the next few months as due our 3rd child and currently have a 4 seater Aygo.

I need a car that can fit 2 car seats and a teenager in the back seat, has a good sized boot, is reliable and not too costly to run. Petrol and manual transmission. Also not too costly to buy! I'm likely to get 4/4 and a half k for my current car, and have a budget of 6/7k (total) for the new one. Also ideally don't want a car that's done more than 60,000 miles. If I could get lucky and afford some of the 'extras' then I'd love to have Bluetooth and maybe parking sensors.

I really don't want a long car so no estates. I'm nervous about driving a bigger car regardless but will just have to deal with that I think! Massively appreciate any suggestions, thank you.

Some kind of MPV would suit maybe? Space inside but not too long.

Look at: Toyota Verso, Ford C-Max, Citroen C3 Picasso or C4 Picasso, Kia Carens, VW Golf Plus or Touran.

Fiat Tipo is worth a look. Not an MPV but a good-size hatchback, good value and plenty of room.

Whatever you look at, make sure it has good service and MOT history, four good-quality tyres from a reputable make like Michelin or Continental, and hasn’t been previously stolen, crashed or written off.

Thanks very much @FuckabethFuckor 😊 I'll have a look at some of those!

I quite like the look of the Citroen c3/c5 aircrosses but they're newer so out of price range unfortunately.

My PCP is coming to an end and I briefly considered the dacia duster. They seem to tick all the boxes though this is the new one, unsure what the older versions are like!

They’re ok. Good value, can feel quite cheap inside but they are cheap so it figures. It’s a first-generation Nissan Qashqai underneath I think. Renault engines.

Don’t get a white one, they rust.

Yes, the C3 and C4 Picassos are the previous models so will be older and a bit cheaper.

Kia Soul would be another shout. Upright thing, quite funky in a certain kind of way.

This made me smile as I can clearly remember the original Dacia Duster from the 1980's and it was a truly awful vehicle. Luckily it was not well received over here and failed to sell.
OH was a motor enthusiast so read the magazine's and we went to shows. They were pushing it heavily in an attempt to get sales but it was a disaster and I don't recall ever seeing one on the road. 😁

Very much agree, the new one felt higher spec and had the space needed. I've got a stepway and absolutely love it. I didn't like the older models of the duster (hence the stepway) but must admit the 2022 one looked nice and drove lovely on the test drive and had various bells and whistles. In the end though, my stepway kept me!
