(What have my Friday nights become?!?)

Can anyone recommend a dish drying rack? Fairly decent size essential. Not extortionately priced.

<Rushes onto boring thread with boring knowledge>

Last summer i spent ages (an hour) researching dish drying racks and why they're so blinking small these days.

Turns out most people use a dishwasher and a decent drying rack is falling into a thing of the past.

Biggest one i could find was John Lewis stainless steel one. I paid about 20/30 for it and it's luverly Smile

And sturdy enough to lean a wooden chopping board in it without it falling over.

See I say hallelujah for boring threads of this type! I live overseas and have been hoping to find a decent dish drainer when I come back to the Uk later this year. So I’m here for the recommendations! Thanks OP 😀

MaggieFS · 03/02/2023 21:33

Funnily enough, the one I have come on to say DO NOT buy is the one I think @Laiste loves! JL deep dish drainer £25, but they do have others so it might not be. It's a shit design (IMHO Smile), assuming the design hasn't been updated since I bought mine. The side edge wire is curved so you can't lean tall glasses against it because they roll. The gap under the side wire is so big things fall out and the gaps in the corners are even bigger.

I honestly didn't give it a second thought, but I wish I had!!

I love this nice calm place!

I bought kingrack extendable dish rack after having one in holiday cottage and it and I are very happy. I particularly like the wee sticky up bits for glasses or baby bottles

Laiste · 03/02/2023 21:38

I posted a link with a pic Maggie, is it like yours?
I don't have those probs with mine.

I've just remembered OP - i stated a thread a few months ago about cutlery drainers and where to find a good one! They all go rusty or the bars are too far apart and spoons slide out.

Ikea

CatOnTheChair · 03/02/2023 22:11

Ours looks very much like the ikea one, without the little end hooks. Suspect it came from Wilkos or similar, but since it was purchased, along with my first house, in 2003, I can't remember where it came from!
