How much food?

Dh has invited his friend and family over for drinks and he said we will do pizza for the kids. How many pizzas would you get for 4 adults and 3 kids? Kids ages are 12,11 and 5.
Dh thinks 3 fresh shop brought pizzas and 2 bags of chicken dippers will be enough.
Id rather have more food then not enough. This will be their first time to our house as they have recently moved back from abroad.
Thanks x

I think I'd do at least 6 pizzas.

Fivemoreminutes1 · 03/02/2023 13:25

My 11yo could eat a whole pizza himself! Easily!

CheeseandGherkins · 03/02/2023 13:29

How big are they? If the normal size shop ones (not large) then 1 each maybe a couple extra. I'm the same as you and would much rather have too much food than too little.

foghead · 03/02/2023 13:29

More than 3. If they're the big fresh ones then I'd do 5 with salad and extras.
12 and 11 yr olds can eat a lot of pizza.

BarbaraofSeville · 03/02/2023 13:30

You could always buy more than you think and serve the pizza by the slice, with the dippers and salad and cook more if people want more.

If they don't eat it, you can eat it over the next few days or freeze them for another time.

Moonlightsonatas · 03/02/2023 13:30

You can always cook 3 and put the spares in the freezer if not required.

GiltEdges · 03/02/2023 13:32

I’d allow for a full pizza each per adult and half each for the older two children. The 5yo is only likely to eat a slice or two, so I wouldn’t allow any extra for them, just cut it all into slices.

So 5, plus sides.

ImaMumtoaboy · 03/02/2023 13:49

Great thank you. I was thinking 5 large 1s, dippers and garlic bread. Icecream then for the kids.
My ds(11) can normally manage about 3 slices from dominos but ususally wakes then with a sore belly during the night.
We have been out for food with the family before and their older child can eat alot more then my ds.
Its not like they are coming for dinner but more for chat and catch up. More to get them out of dh friends parents house for a few hours in the evening.

I'd eat a full shop pizza to myself, and i'd imagine most 11 & 12 year olds could too. It's better to have too much than people still be hungry and you can always eat it cold the next day.

Floralnomad · 03/02/2023 14:16

If they are not coming for an actual meal it’s just ad hoc nibbles with a chat I’d do 4 pizzas , chicken dippers , garlic bread and that’s all .

FavouriteSlippers · 03/02/2023 14:43

Yep definitely get more. What's not eaten is lunch tomorrow. No waste

MaverickGooseGoose · 03/02/2023 17:05

6 normal shop pizzas plus sides.

WednesdaysPlaits · 03/02/2023 18:02

7 plus sides.
