Just had a bad experience driving

Not sure why I'm writing this, just feel like I need to tell someone so I can calm down.

I was driving home down a country lane. The lane is narrow and only big enough for one car. A car came quickly round the bend and I swerved to the side to let it past. Car then reversed enough to let me past. I passed and was going to say thanks but as I looked at the driver, he and his passenger were glaring at me and said something about remembering my face. They also shouted something as they drove off.

I was expecting them to turn and follow me so felt pretty shaken up. Fortunately, there is another route I can take from now on that's only a bit longer.

Upsetting but probably not really an issue.

It's quite likely do not frequently use that route on a regular basis PLUS it was an immediate reaction from a couple of twats. They probably do something similar 20 times a week. They won't even remember tomorrow whilst you are still worrying

That must have been an upsetting experience, but it definitely says more about them than you. There was no need for them to take whatever had put them in a bad mood out on you.

Topseyt123 · 02/02/2023 21:35

Unnerving certainly, but probably not worth any further headspace. There's every chance you won't see them again, and were just in the wrong place at the wrong time by pure coincidence.

I agree with @Topseyt123
I once experienced a 'road rage' incident near my home where a car driver wouldn't reverse (a few meters for him but a long way for me and the obstruction was on his side). We sat face to face for a while until he actually drove up against my front bumper as if trying to push me out of the way - although I don't think he really wanted to damage his Audi! He was ranting and swearing though. It was very unnerving even though I was in a street full of houses and not a country lane.
I thought I'd memorised his number plate but I either got it slightly wrong or he had false plates. Either way I've never encountered him again. Just a case of wrong place, wrong time.

Probably just a pair of idiots with big egos trying to intimidate you. It's not something I'd lose sleep over. Very few people have the time to drive around country lanes all night remembering faces to exact warped revenge on. Chances are if you did drive past them again they won't even remember you.
