URGENT: Skiing tomorrow with no insurance

I'm a bit panicked.

I am on a trip in Switzerland where my insurance is covered by my home insurance. I am unexpectantly going skiing tomorrow in France. I will have no internet or phone line tomorrow as I have to leave here at 5am and I have no internet or phone in France.

I completely forgot about insurance. Phone lines are closed until 9am for my home insurance.

I tried to buy some online but because my trip abroad has already started apparently it's invalidated. Can anyone help?

Why won't you have Internet or phone in France? You can usually buy a roaming package quite cheaply which will give you access.

StrawberryPi · 01/02/2023 21:49

You can quite often get "carte neige" insurance with your ski pass for a few quid. No idea how good it is, but it's probably worth checking out the website for the ski area you're visiting to check.

Are you sure you are insured for Switzerland and not France? We cross the border a lot at Portes de Soleil (from France into Switzerland) and this has never crossed my mind.

I am just not insured for winter sports and I wasn't expecting to do any - I am researching buying travel insurance when youre already travelling

Surely your start date for the French ski insurance would be starting tomorrow?

pancia · 01/02/2023 22:04

Thank you @EmmaEmerald I am going to buy this really apprecaite it - its goign to cost £30 for one day but worth it

@PleaseCleanTheWholeToilet my home insurance when I tried to do the add one said 'when do you leave the UK' and only allowed me to select a future date so it would be invalidated

Yes I thought this.

pancia · 01/02/2023 22:06

the problem is that they ask when I am leaving the UK not when I want the insurance to start from

Glad you’re sorted. I didn’t scroll far enough before replying

I always just buy it online when I am there. Get on no compare. Select tommorow as the start date and away you go.

Glad I could help

I seem to be annoying people by accident on MN today so it's nice to have been helpful 😂 Enjoy.

Highly recommend World Nomads. Policies aimed more at travellers backpackers and adventurers so a lot more flexibility compared to standard policies. Buy online.

Aside from insurance do you have a UK European Health Insurance Card?
