Long weekend to Romania, would you recommend it?

I am thinking of going to Cluj for one of the May bank holidays, I think it looks great. Is it risky though with the War in Ukraine?
If anyone has been would love to hear all about it.

I live in Romania and the War in Ukraine doesn't affect us at all, so I wouldn't be worrying about it.

I don't live in Cluj, so I don't know what to recommend, but I can assure you there are plenty of things to be done.

Cluj is really pretty, I would definitely recommend it. I went a few years ago but can’t imagine it’s changed much.

@Sundaychiller following! Want to bring the dc to Transylvania this year & there's always cheap flights to Cluj! Hopefully someone more knowledgeable will give some info!

I've been to Bucharest. It was for a wedding and reminded me ok UK in the 70s lots of social housing and funny little shops. Also nice restaurants and beautiful churches

I'm going to take the plunge and book, looks lovely and some great Airbnbs available

My DS went to Cluj for a week at the end of 2022 and loved it. It was so cheap. He booked an apartment on Booking.com but as he also travelled around he also booked a couple of rooms in 2 other towns/cities before returning to Cluj. He felt perfectly safe.

Cluj is really pretty - the surrounding countryside is great. We went to the salt mines very interesting!

I've never been, but this thread is making me want to go!
