Eating disorder referral ‘assessment’

Hi all

my daughter has been referred to the eating disorder team at the hospital for an assessment. Does anyone know if this means she might get turned away for treatment, or if they are assessing what help she needs?

@Bunnyflop7
Its standard procedure in the ED service that is local to me. Referrals come in, patient (over 18) or patient & parent (if under 18) gets a triage call within 5 days, then unless it’s glaringly obvious they’re not appropriate for the service an assessment is arranged.
Assessments take 60-90 mins and are then presented to the team at a meeting for a decision (to accept or not, and if so what the agreed care plan is)
So this sounds like routine procedure to see if your child meets the ED diagnostic criteria.
