I have tried Google, I promise!
A club I'm a member of has a deaf member. She active on our social media pages so we feel we're getting to know her but it must be isolating on club nights while we're doing the sport because none of us can communicate with her. We try with improvised sign language but it's mostly smiles and thumbs up! She doesn't lip read or speak.
It has been suggested that the club could fund a teacher to come and train some of us for an hour or so after a club meet once a week - because we're busy with our sport most members won't have another evening to give to it it, but some would be happy to stay on.
First is this a good idea, not too patronising? (sorry if deaf is the wrong term, but that's what she calls herself.)
What are our chances of finding a teacher who'd come out at 8:30pm and where do we look for them?
