I'm 14 weeks pregnant. Have tonsillitis or something similar. My throat is on fire and trying to swallow (even just water) feels like shards of glass. Swallowing also feels really difficult physically, like my throat is on the verge of closing up. It's felt like this since Friday and it's getting worse every day.
On top of all this, it's made my morning sickness 10 times worse. I'm constantly retching and am being sick multiple times a day. I'm spitting into a bottle as even swallowing my own saliva makes me sick (not to mention is also incredibly painful). I am taking calpol every 4 hours (can't keep down regular paracetamol) gargling tcp which was helping a bit but not anymore. I haven't eaten in 18 hours now, just very occasional sips of water. I'm now seeing blood in my spit probably from how sore my throat is.
I went to the GP today and felt very fobbed off. Told me it may or may not be viral and to come back in a couple of days for antibiotics if nothing changes. Said with drinking, it's just a matter of forcing myself. I explained (again) that when I've tried to drink more, I've been sick. He tested my urine and said some ketones show up (which indicate dehydration) but not enough for a hospital admission and to go to a&e if nothing's changed within 48 hours.
This just feels too long and I cannot carry on like this for another 48 hours. And surely it's not great to hold off on antibiotics if there is a risk of dehydration when antibiotics may sort it out by then? Annoyed with myself now for not being more pushy. Am I right in thinking this is shit or if I go to another GP tomorrow will they just say the same?
