I have to turn right, walk all round the square, up the main road and then about ½ mile later I'm down a cul-de-sac that has no loop out!

Can go left as after 5m it's the road...

I attach a diagram... because I MN properly Grin

Miles.

Blanketpolicy · 29/01/2023 12:27

If I turn left I would reach fields in about 1/2 mile. They go to the moors so potentially could be miles.

If I turn right and follow paths it would probably be a few miles of pavements (in and out of streets on an estate with a long road down the middle) before hitting the local tesco 1/2 mile away (if I had turned left and crossed a couple of roads).

I could walk an infinity 1k loop which takes me past a school not my daughter's and a newsagents/post office.

I've used the 1k loop for a running route when I know I haven't got much in me so I just challenge myself to seeing how many loops I can do before quitting.

Movinghouseatlast · 29/01/2023 12:29

6 miles one way, about 4 the other way.

JessicaBrassica · 29/01/2023 12:31

I run out of pavement in about 400m...

SockQueen · 29/01/2023 12:34

LadyOfTheCanyon · 29/01/2023 12:17

Me too. Reckon my block would take me about 7 minutes to circumnavigate.

Same, it's just over 400m round my "island." Less than 5 min walk.

gogohmm · 29/01/2023 12:36

I can get to the marina, beach and nature reserve without crossing a road. I can get onto the sw coastal path that is very long (not sure if you have to cross any roads but if it's continuous, hundreds of miles!)

KittyCatChat · 29/01/2023 12:37

I live on a weird circle of houses so I can only go on the loop. About 4 minutes walk.

If I can cross one road I could walk for miles across countryside.

QueenofLouisiana · 29/01/2023 12:37

I could do about a 3.5-4 mile loop, across fields to the village church. From there walk along different fields to walk home.

If I turn left at our gate, about 70 steps, if I turn right, I am in fields so could potentially walk for miles without crossing a road.

CaptainMyCaptain · 29/01/2023 12:39

A couple of miles then if I cross one road I can walk two or three more across fields and woods to a very nice country pub.

octoberafternoons · 29/01/2023 12:44

A loop round the block which takes a good 15 minutes as one side is a steep hill so quite a workout 😂

WhatWouldHopperDo · 29/01/2023 12:48

A loop round the block here too. Takes about 10 minutes.

Bin85 · 29/01/2023 12:50

Half a mile?
Though by crossing one road much further

Lordofthebutterfloofs · 29/01/2023 12:51

No roads at all? Not even side streets?

In that case about 200m either way.

emmathedilemma · 29/01/2023 12:51

About 200m but it’s only a dead end road to about 30 properties. Once I’m over that it’s about 600m til crossing the next side road.

WinterFoxes · 29/01/2023 12:51

About 3km if I go straight but much further if I wander around woodland paths - could carry on indefinitely.

unlimiteddilutingjuice · 29/01/2023 12:53

We back onto a river with a footpath. And that meets up with some canals, also with footpaths. So potentially.........to the other side of the country.

Mueslikid · 29/01/2023 12:54

Do you mean every time you get to a side road/ T junction you have to turn down it instead of stepping out into the road?

I can do various different loops of a couple of miles, and branch off onto various footpaths. But I’d always end up looping back again, there isn’t away I could end up walking out of town.

neurospicygal · 29/01/2023 12:55

1/2 mile if i just turn left continously and end up home in a circle 😂

Indigoshift · 29/01/2023 12:55

Needmorelego · 29/01/2023 12:15

"Around the block" which would take about 3 mimutes to walk. I am technically on an island with roads as a moat 🙂.

Snap! Didnt think of it like that

LadyOfTheCanyon · 29/01/2023 12:57

I feel strangely trapped in by my road moat now! Confused

Sunriseinwonderland · 29/01/2023 13:01

I live in the back of beyond so probably about 50 miles or so.

QueSyrahSyrah · 29/01/2023 13:02

Interesting question OP! We couldn't even get out of our building as there's an access route to the buildings behind us runs right past our front door (through our apartment block car park).

Mueslikid · 29/01/2023 13:03

Couldn’t quite get to school, would just have to look at it from the other side of the road!
