Good Morning Mumsnet! What's everyone up to today?

I'm just finishing my first cuppa of the day. The only sound I can hear is the fridge whirring away to itself, and dd2 occasionally shifting about in bed. It's lovely! Sure it'll be broken soon though 🙄

There's a stew in the slow cooker already for tea so we'll wander to Lidl for some crusty bread to go with it, and I need to iron the girls' school shirts. Ironing's soon to become dd1's job - depending which 6th form she chooses.

Other than that, it'll be a very slow day here. I'm still feeling a bit under the weather & just cba with much. I'll probably prep for Tuesday's Rainbows and Guides then either read or crochet the afternoon away. I want to do my nails later on.

I think dd2's finished all her homework, not sure about dd1 though so will check when she gets up.

What about all of you? 🙂

Sounds like a lovely relaxed Sunday. Dh is at work today so myself, dd and ds will get dressed at some point this morning ( still lounging in pjs), walk the dog and visit my mum for a cuppa, make sausage rolls, play a game (probably ticket to ride) and then I have some yoga planned whilst the kids finish any homework and get ready for school. I should make dahl for dinner at some point too.

Morning, not long up just doing The Big Garden Watch for the last day while drinking my coffee. We are very lucky with the selection of garden birds we get but then we do put alot of food out for them and we make our own fat cakes which they go mad for.

I will head to my mums in a bit for a coffee then my ds is going to his other grans for the afternoon. Not sure what me and dh will do. If the rain stays off I might go for a walk but a bath also sounds appealing. I've got a very busy week coming up so maybe a lazy Sunday would be better

Whendovescry03 · 29/01/2023 10:11

Morning! We're heading off out to a cafe shortly to meet some friends for a late breakfast. We really could do with getting dressed! DH got up with DS this morning so I've had a lovely lie in. After breakfast we might go for a little walk, then back home to do a bit of housework, laundry, prep stuff for work/school and get a roast dinner on the go. Will probably open up a nice bottle of red wine a bit later in the afternoon.

Morning!

I’m still in bed! Blush DH is downstairs cooking bacon sandwiches and making tea. Once we’ve had breakfast we need to wake DS2 up and empty his room so we can clean it and go through his clothes because it’s filthy and lots of stuff is outgrown. He will hate us! I’m hoping that will only take a couple of hours, then we can go for a wander with DDog.

We’ve got chilli and jacket potatoes for dinner tonight, but I forgot to get potatoes so we need to pick some up later too.

DH will iron this afternoon whilst I prep lessons. Then this evening will be baths/showers all round ready to go back to school tomorrow. I will hopefully spend the later part of this evening building my Ancient Greek city on the computer so I don’t have to think about how much I don’t want to get up tomorrow.

Morning @lucysmam
It's been a while as we have had a truly shit January. DH had a heart attack 3 weeks ago and MiL had a stroke last weekend!
Just dropped DS at football, going to tidy up a bit. Short walk with DH as he needs to walk daily and then beef stew (and a glass or 2 of red wine for me) for dinner. It's the quiet life for us atm, but at least we are all still here.

MeinKraft · 29/01/2023 10:20

Morning @lucysmam and thanks for the thread. They've become part of my weekend!

I've been up since 6 with DD who has just gone down for her nap. DS is clattering about and seems intent on waking her! Hopefully she'll stay sleeping and DS and I can have a bath (not at the same time) then the three of us will get dressed and visit my grandparents for lunch.

I've got DS's bedsheets washed and hanging on the line so when we get home I'll finish off drying them and get them back on the bed. Then we'll just potter around the house I think until bedtime. DH is working tonight so when I get the kids to bed I'll either just go to sleep myself or watch some TV depending on energy levels!

HipHopBanzai · 29/01/2023 10:20

We're all still in pyjamas here, having a slow start to the day. It's grey and miserable outside.

I'm currently drinking my second cup of tea and thinking about getting up to prep the pork for tea and put it in the slow cooker.

DD1 is going out with her friends later and DD2 has gymnastics practice. Hoping that we can walk the dog before that, which will mean DH and I can go out for a coffee in peace.

Planning to do the RSPB bird watch at some point but have noticed a real drop off on our garden birds recently, so I'm not sure that we'll get anything very much to report back.

grayhairdontcare · 29/01/2023 10:23

I've been up early today and have prepared dinner,a chilli for tomorrow, a pie filling for Tuesday and lunches for a couple of days.
Had smoked salmon for breakfast and just finishing my coffee before a walk along the canal.

Eggsley · 29/01/2023 10:29

Having a lazy morning here too! DH has gone out to football, I'm in bed with the electric blanket on as my back is very achy today. Both DSs have got into bed with me and they are arguing about gaming so I'm about to get up for a shower and leave them to it. We need to pop to the supermarket and that's about it for today. Maybe take the dog out for a walk round the forest this afternoon. Then just getting ready for school/work tomorrow. A quiet, chilled day hopefully!

lucysmam · 29/01/2023 10:31

@grayhairdontcare sounds like you've been very productive this morning! I have some chicken defrosting atm, ready to prep tomorrow's tea for the slow cooker tomorrow.

@gingercat02 I hope you enjoy your walk with dh. It sounds like slow and steady is the way to go 💐

I'm quite envious of those with washing on the line today - there isn't a full load to do here today, I did it all on Friday after school and work so there was none all weekend. Downside is that it's all waiting to be put away upstairs now though 🙄 but I do like to see a line of clean washing sad as that makes me

Good morning everyone. Another lazy morning here, just me, dd8 and dh are awake at the moment. Dh wants to take the girls to visit his parents later so I’m going to take the opportunity to strip all the beds, open all the windows and air the house. It’s pretty tidy atm but I need to clean so I’ll do that while everyone is out and iron the uniforms.

Steak pie and mash for tea for dh and the kids, I’m on a strict diet so will be having fish and veg then it’s homework and bath for dd8 and the rest of us will stick something on the tv for a couple of hours before bed.

Giggorata · 29/01/2023 10:48

Good morning lucysmam and all!
Just finishing my tea and vaguely planning what we will have for brunch. DH is out with the dogs and on Sundays he often nips into the local supermarket for a rake through their reduced pile, so I get lots of surprises.
It’s a nice day here at the moment, so I've got all the bedroom windows wide open and I'll be upstairs for most of the day, cleaning and sorting.
I bought the paint for the hall and stairs yesterday, which I'm hoping will be done tomorrow and next day, so that I can put things away in the hidden storage. So sick of odd boxes about the place.
DH's huge lamb casserole will do for another meal, so just add some broccoli and mashed spuds on the side. (Very impressed with the way the butcher prepared neck of lamb, removing bone, etc and ending up with a lean meat lump.)
No plans for this evening, but if it stays fine, I might see if I can get a glimpse of the green comet (Northern sky, just after sunset) ☄️ 😀

popandchoc · 29/01/2023 10:54

Had a fairly productive morning. Had a bit of a cold last few days but seems to be a bit better today.
Have put some washing in, cleaned bathroom and mopped bathroom and kitchen.
Going to tesco in a bit with DD2 as we have very little food in.
Having a chilled day so might start my labyrinth puzzle i got for christmas.

LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand · 29/01/2023 11:04

Good morning Lucysmam and others. I have dgs1 with me. He had an unexpected sleepover at Grandma's house yesterday as his mummy was taken ill with gallstones. She's ok now but I kept dgs1 to give her a chance to recover. Dgs2 is at his other granny. So far I have made a slow cooker chicken curry and tidied up the kitchen. Dgs1 and I have played at shops, dinosaurs and him being a dog to which involved him drinking milk from a cereal bowl and barking at me 😂 . I'm going to get him dressed shortly and take him home. Then tidy up his bedroom at my house and my living room. I've stripped his bed already and it's in the washing machine. There are wee fingerprints on my window so I'll clean that too. Have a nice Sunday

Decafflatteplease · 29/01/2023 11:15

Morning @lucysmam I couldn't find your usual thread yesterday hope you are well.

It's big garden birdwatch here this morning aswell as some bird related crafts. And homework.

No plans for this afternoon which is nice, might get in the garden with DC and plant some bulbs.

Sausage and mash for dinner. And an Apple crumble if I can be bothered making it!

Then my Sunday ritual of bath gin book and bed! Always try to get an early night on a Sunday to get set up for the week.

lucysmam · 29/01/2023 11:18

@Decafflatteplease I almost overslept for dd1's appointment for her new piercing yesterday so didn't have chance to post. Someone else did one though, I noticed when I sat down last night.

Morning! I had a slow and lazy start to the morning with coffee in bed browsing for holidays.

I've put a stew in the slow cooker, put a load of laundry on and unloaded the dishwasher.

Ds2 and Dh are at rugby, ds1 is off to work soon. I need to do some planning and we might go for a walk this afternoon.

golddustwomen · 29/01/2023 16:52

@lucysmam I was about to start a post asking if you were ok! I didn't realise how much your Saturday morning posts have become apart of my weekend Grin

Nice quiet day here for us. Been to the park, then a quick visit to my nan and granddad. Carbonara for dinner, oh going to play football this evening so me and the dc with get bathed and watch a film before the madness of Monday morning!
