Places to eat in Dublin

Hello,

I've booked a trip to Dublin in March, am staying in the city centre. There is such a huge variety of places to eat but as I'm there for a special occasion I'd like to find somewhere really nice, central that's recommended and reserve a table rather than chancing my arm at the time.

Any recommendations? Don't mind spending a bit maybe up to £100 a head. No particular things to avoid, probably wouldn't book a vegetarian or vegan only place because my husband is very much a meat eater!

Thanks!

Etto

Tapas de Lola

Pickle

Forest and Marcy / or Avenue, the one that's open - pricey though

Bastile

Where are you staying @wellbehavedwomenseldommakehistory? What kind of food would you like?
City centre L'Gueleton is good. Lennan's Yard too.
Etto fab bit pricier. Dax too.
Pickle does good Indian food
Have a look on Open Table, lots there.
Glovers Alley.
For a treat and a fab set menu, Mr Fox is excellent. €60 food and then wine on top. Go early as there's a nice small bar before you get shown to your table.

BTW, book well in advance

Pichet is just heavenly.

Do you have a budget because if you go to Chapter One for lunch (rather than dinner) you get the same level Michelin Star service and quality of food but without the dinner prices.

One Pico is gorgeous too.

Also, if you really want to splash the cash there's Restaurant Patrick Guilbaud.

I've eaten in each of these and they're just so fabulous.

We're staying on Lower Mercer Street.

I've had a look at Mr Fox earlier today and liked the look of it - might be worth a second check!

We'll eat pretty much anything. Not looking for anything overly stuffy, just decent food and nice surroundings.

If your husband loves his meat, you can't go wrong with FXB. It's the restaurant that is supplied by the butcher FX Buckley. Amazing beef. I'm genuinely watering at the mouth thinking of the restaurants that I have suggested.

Oooh jealous....nice meal out mmmh

Shanahans on Stephens Green is a nice steak restaurant.

I agree with lots of the suggestions upthread.

For a special occasion I like Wilde in the Shelbourne.

If you're a seafood fan Sole is fab.

Six by Nico, just off Dawson Street. They change the menu every 6 weeks, incredibly inventive and creative food. About €80 per head for a set menu (6 courses hence the name) Definitely worth it.

Drainedandconfused8 · 28/01/2023 16:33

101 Talbot is a fab, relaxed restaurant

FXB seconded!! Absolutely amazing food, the scallops and steak still feature in my dreams. Great atmosphere and lovely staff too.

I have booked FXB! Could only get a table at 6pm but that's ok, gives us plenty of time to have a few drinks out afterwards.

So... any places to avoid/places we must go for lovely drinks afterwards?

Thank you all you've been so helpful!

Which FXB restaurant have you booked?

Pembroke Street (is that the right one?!)

Ok, so there's a bar across the road from that restaurant called Matt the Thrashers. Nice for a drink. Alternatively, head back in the direction of the St. Stephen's Green direction and you should pass Doheny & Nesbitts, Toners and ODonoghues.

If you're looking for something a bit posher, there's the Cellar bar in the Merrion Hotel or the Horseshoe bar in the Shelbourne hotel.

The only reason I was asking which location was to work out which bars you could go to afterwards.

Have a wonderful time and I really hope you enjoy your visit 🥂🥂

Ahnobother · 29/01/2023 12:26

If you're on Mercer st then on the way back from FXBs you could go to Kehoe's or The Duke - both off Grafton and Dawson Street
All the places that @LookItsMeAgain suggested are brjll too.
Hope you have a lovely weekend.
