You can lead a horse to water...

But you can't make it drink

But it is very boring having to listen to how thirsty the horse is when you are suggesting all the different ways the horse could access the water, and relieve the thirst.

AIBU?

Yanbu, but as my dear old dad used to say you can't make it drink but you can drown the bugger trying. 😁

He was wiser than a tree full of owls ( so he used to tell me) 😁

Give us the gossip then…

It's just SIL who is complaining about feeling isolated
Cue me trying to assist in lots of different ways
Everything I suggest she finds a reason why that won't work for her
So I am just bored of her complaining now
You gotta try to help yourself a little bit

You can lead a horse to water...but it will drink Coca Cola instead.

Some people are like this - just wanting a shoulder to cry on effectively but won't do anything to change their situation. It's like they want to wallow in their misery somehow, which can be strangely comforting to some people.

You've got a 'yes butter'.

No matter what you suggest there's a yes, but here's why tha t wouldn't work for me

Yes butters don't want a solution. They want an audience.

Gets boring very quickly.

I have a friend that calls it “shit life syndrome”

I see you’ve met my mil 😂 the only silver lining of widowhood is I don’t have to see her again.

Yes that's definitely true about waniltinh an audience
The outburst stream of consciousness we get on the family WhatsApp is extraordinary
And then everyone rushes round.
Oh yes sil
You are amazing
