I've been poorly with the flu for about a week (tested in hospital so I know it's the flu). I was finally starting to feel slightly better everyday and then Thursday night I couldn't sleep as I had an awful headache. Woke up with it again yesterday and through the day it slowly developed in to a fever, chills, and awful pain around my face. Can't bite as my teeth are so sore, pain radiates right around my eye, through my ear and all down my jaw right to my neck.
I've tried paracetamol and it's not touching it. I've tried a nasal rinse even though my nose doesn't actually feel too badly blocked, one stuff came out but it didn't help. One side of my face is just throbbing so intensely and is hot to touch. I can't sleep and I feel right back to square one with the fever and chills!

From what I've read online there's no point contacting a medical professional as they won't give you anything for a sinus infection anyway. So has anyone had this and found something that helps relieve some of the pain pretty quickly? Not sure how much longer I can cope with the pain

I've taken decongestant tablets with pain relief before with good effect but it was no-where near as bad as you describe. With that level of pain plus fever etc I think you need to be seen. Would you ring 111 for advice?

Until you can see a gp (and try for an out of hours one this weekend) use a decongestant and bump up the paracetamol with ibuprofen. They're really effective taken together. Space doses out about 6hours is the advice. The ibuprofen will help reduce inflammation.

Lots of steamy hot showers / baths.

Hot compress might help too
