If they're a baby, traditionally something silver is given (spoon, egg cup or some other ornament). If they're a bit older then perhaps a money box or a Bible is very traditional (you can get one with white covers and silver wedding, for example). If they're older still, some jewellery can be a meaningful gift, like a cross or fish necklace.

I always used to get an engraved hip flask, but not so much these days..

One of those little silver christening bracelets, or an engraved christening cup, I still keep pens in mine.

Edging, not wedding!

I have a silver necklace of my initial that my godmother gave me for my baptism. It’s special to me.
My boys got lots of money boxes, cutlery etc which we totally loved, but 20 years on its in the memory box, whereas my necklace is still in action 40 odd years on.
So I say, a lovely silver pendant, which she can change the chain to fit over the years.

Thanks for your suggestion. She’s a baby so I’d like a keepsake for her

As god parent, I'd coordinate (if possible) with the others and between you get Bible, Prayer Book (plus rosary) and a hymn book as priority.

If you want to spend more, then good editions of Bible stories retold and illustrated for children

Someone got DS2 a gorgeous wooden Noah's ark with animals. I loved it- something he could actually enjoy rather than a "keepsake" gathering dust on a shelf.

I got mine a children's Bible and a wooden Noah's Ark. Apparently he was given about six moneyboxes!

My DC's godmother gave a children's Bible and a beautiful hardback book of children's stories and poems.
