Football cards

DS has mentioned an interest in getting football cards for trading. He's still young, in primary school but some of the kids at his school have them and have given him a couple. I don't think he fully understands the concept, he just wants to swap them with his friends. But I don't know where to even start. What's best to get him? How does it work? What does he need? I don't want to spend a fortune on things he just going to give away 🤦‍♀️ but id like him to be able to join in if that's what he wants.

I'm not even a football fan so I havent got a scooby lol

Has anyone got any avid collectors and can offer any tips?

Thanks

At our primary it's Match Attax cards the kids love. They have caused quite a few problems with favourite / rare cards going missing from rucksacks etc etc. luckily none of my DCs ever got into them but there have been requests from the school not to bring them in. I would have a chat with other parents to find out which cards your DCs friends collect and whether it causes any problems.

It can become very expensive, there are two main ones Panini that do the premier League (adrenalyn) and Topps (match Attax) that do the European Leagues. Then various other collections and stickers.

You then get an album to store them in and you swap to build up your collection.

If it is Match Attax, then if you are wanting I can send you some, we have far too many doubles.

Football cards are such a cool hobby. When I was a kid, I used to trade them with my friends after school. It was like a treasure hunt, trying to find the best cards. I love how each card tells a story about the player or the game. If you ever get into hockey trading cards, it’s a different ballgame. The designs are fantastic, and the stats on the back help you get to know the players. Plus, some of the rare ones can be worth a fortune! There’s something special about collecting cards from your favorite teams and players. It brings back memories of watching games together. So, whether you're into football or thinking about diving into hockey cards, it’s all about the fun and the thrill of the chase.
