Does this need an x-ray?

I caught my toe in my pyjama leg yesterday evening playing with DD, and injured it. Not entirely sure on the mechanics as a it happened so quickly but I think it got bent where I tried to get it out and then I lost my balance and fell onto the bent toe on to the bottom of the stairs where I was trying not to land on DD. NHS website says a&e but that feels really extreme. I can't get to minke injuries today during their opening hours as dh is away with work and my parents are on holiday so no transport and more importantly no childcare but I could probably get there for when they open tomorrow morning, but not sure if I'm wasting everyone's time?!
I'm able to hobble about if I don't try and put my toe on the floor but it's still v sore around the joint closest to the nail and I can't bend it without severe pain

Excuse the growing out varnish!

Does this need an x-ray?

Yes it’s worth an Xray. The pain is likely and hopefully just bruising, but I would want to have it xrayed. (I’m a Radiographer)

Thank you, I think that's what I knew deep down was just hoping to avoid it!!

I'd take it to minor injuries tomorrow

Yes, big toes are x-rayed (other toes are not). I would send you for an XR with that story and that bruise (minor injuries nurse). good luck, hopefully it's just bruising

Thanks all, at minor injuries now and first one here so hopefully it won't be too long of a wait! 🤞
