How the fuck did Tracey Brabin get to be mayor?

I'm just watching her on Question Time and she's a fucking idiot. It's just a great thumping mix of content free waffle. How on earth is she in the position she's in?

She went through the lengthy process of becoming the preferred and selected Labour candidate for the mayoral election, standing and winning.

I didn’t watch QT. It’s usually shit, with the odd gem I’ll watch on catch-up if recommended.

She was an MP before she became mayor of West Yorkshire.

Waffle, does that remind of someone? An Old Etonian perhaps? Overweight and married three times?

I have to admit, as a lifelong Labour voter, that I was cringing listening to her. I agree she was just spouting soundbites with no coherent content. The woman from the Daily Mirror was much more articulate. Even when the Tory guy was saying he agreed with Labour on something, she was pulling faces and trying to argue with him, but had no actual argument to back herself up with.

I agree at pounts she she was waffling with no direction but generally, I like her and usually she says the things I think we agree with.

She used to be an actress, which probably explains the ability to waffle.

She became an MP when she stood in Jo Cox's constituency after her death, and the other major parties didn't field a candidate out of respect to Jo Cox, which is always a boost to someone's political career.

She did waffle a lot and I didn’t like her nadim tax argument, in fact I didn’t like any of them including Konstantinos kisin. “Due process” like “freedom of speech” is a principle worth arguing for. And actually you should argue for it the loudest when it applies to someone you maybe don’t like or don’t agree with. Because next time it’ll be someone on “ your side “ having their tax investigated or saying something “wrong”. You should argue due process for everyone. I’m surprised Konstantinos didn’t argue that, he gave a terrible answer about vaccine mandates 🙄

She was a shit MP and is now a shit Mayor. I speak as a constituent and someone who works for an organisation she has control over.

Its really awful but had Jo Cox not lost her life so tragically, I doubt Tracey Brabin would ever have got a look in on politics in West Yorkshire.

I so agree with Ambergrain, and also live in that area.

I met Tracey Brabin at a local election count once, and she was so disinterested in meeting a pleb like me. She was surrounded by fawning labour colleagues, it was so disappointing.
