DD aged 9 has always been extroverted and had a large number of friends. Year 5 has been a massive change for her, she's lost long term friendships, hates school and our neighbour (different school) who she has played with since the age of 4 has been ignoring her. She's so sad she hangs out with me non stop when I know really she wants to be with friends. I'm doing my best to support her , I've looked up scouts , trying to arrange sleepovers with her cousin. I feel sick I hate seeing her so sad.

Does anyone have advice ? I thought it would be secondary school before all the passive aggressiveness and popularity contests. I feel so sad and worried for her.

Sorry to hear this OP, it sounds very sad and stressful for you.

Have you met with her teacher to find out what is going on, and see if they can shed any light on the friendship issues?
