A really obscure ‘help me remember this film’

Loved the thread earlier about the story from
the annual and was hoping you can all help me identify a film.

It was on tv a few times when I was a child in the early-mid 1990s.

Part of it was set in woodlands. Maybe there was one of those net traps hidden in leaves. The girl had long hair and there was a man with her. Not sure if it was her dad or not.

She was in a sort of jail cell type thing. There was a woman who seemed sort of witchy to me when I was a child but she may very well not be a witch. The witchy woman put the girls cassette player in a bucket of water and ruined it.

It used to really scare and upset me but I want to know what it was. Please help!

Blair witch?

Winterlove · 25/01/2023 22:32

It was on daytime tv when I was in the 4-6 year old age bracket so probably not Blair Witch!

The woods, creepy old woman and long haired girls make me think of The Watcher in the Woods, but I don’t remember a bit with a cassette player.

@SydneyCarton just had a look at some
images and the description but don’t think this is it

Into the woods?

Winterlove · 25/01/2023 22:59

@Shoemadlady it’s too new. Would have been from mid 1990s or earlier

The Company of Wolves? It was a film though and a 15 though I remember watching it as a child. It fascinated and freaked me out. Angela Lansbury was the grandmother and had kind of a witch quality. It went from present day to the girl dreaming in the woods but I don’t remember a tape recorder.

ClaireEclair · 25/01/2023 23:11

Oh sorry. Ignore me. Just noticed the age bracket you added.

T-Bag is the witchy programme I remember from that time. Loved it but also abut scary at a young age.

Changingmynameyetagain · 25/01/2023 23:21

Grotbags?
I used to love that when I was a kid.

Winterlove · 26/01/2023 07:33

Nope none of these either.

The woman wasn’t a witch in the obvious, halloweeny sense of the word. More evil godmother, flowy clothes type of vibe.

A bit left field but something like A Little Princess - no woods but she's locked in a basement by evil headmistress, and there's scenes with her dad.

Or Hocus Pocus?Snow Queen?

Interiordeshrine · 25/01/2023 22:30

Blair witch?

Have you actually seen Blair Witch? None of the stuff the OP writes is in Blair Witch.

Winterlove · 26/01/2023 08:59

@eyope definitely not hocus pocus. Snow queen is too recent and looking at stills from the film it’s not a little princess

Lizzie Dripping? Though it would need to be a repeat you were watching...

Shoemadlady · 26/01/2023 09:15

Into the woods has been remand a few times, is it an older version?
