Gift for cleaner

The lady who cleans for me is retiring next month and I'm trying to think of a nice gift for her.

She has been cleaning for me for a number of years and is worth her weight in gold so I'm sad to see her go and would like to give her something to say thank you.

My OH suggested cash or a voucher in a card. I think that might be a bit impersonal but maybe she would appreciate that more than a gift?

Any suggestions or ideas welcome 🤗

I don't think it's at all impersonal if the card contains a heartfelt and thoughtful message.

I know it is a bit boring and people take umbrage with it on here quite often but ultimately a gift is for the recipient and most people I know would get more use out of a gift card and really enjoy spending one as well as would sincerely appreciate it. At least you know it will be put to good use and will be well received.

I'd do a lovely card, a bunch of good quality flowers and a voucher for something such as M&S.

Agree with pp. Unless you know someone very well I think it’s really hard to choose a gift (and be certain they are going to love it and don’t already have it).

She will privately want cash…

I'm with your OH I'm sure she'd really welcome either cash or vouchers unless there's an interest she has talked about over the years. You could get her some nice chocolates like bouja bouja and a lovely big card and the cash/vouchers.
