Sheep as an old fashioned cure for something

My dad remembers being a child and people being taken to stand near the sheep in the farmers market to help with some sort of ailment but can’t remember what. Would have been late 40s early 50s in rural Devon.

Any ideas? Google is no help.

The only thing I can think of is that lanolin on the sheep’s wool would help with chilblains on the hands.

Anyone? Dads pretty poorly and doing a lot of reminiscing- I’d love to give him an answer or even better something to read about it
