Am I just being a baby?

Had my first filling last year. Im early 30s. It was horrendous. Now its playing up so dentist had to take it out to see what was underneath and put a new one in. I find the whole experience absolutely awful. The sound of the drill in my ear paired with the pain of the actual filling and the pain goes THROUGH me. I asked the dental nurse to chat to me through it and just said about anything just to distract me but she didn't say a word. I've had babies, broken bones but that pain is just something else.

Did you not have the area numbed?

@BakedTattie yeah but I find it only numbs the gum, I can still feel a lot of pain through the tooth.

@sunseaandme it was the same the last time and this time the dentist said she used more of the numbing injection. For hours afterwards half of my bottom lip and all of the gum area was numb but when she does the drilling etc I can feel these horrendous shooting pains through my tooth it's awful. I feel like I'm being dramatic but I have to go back in 3 months and I'm already dreading it :( I also felt really silly that I asked the dental nurse to talk to me to distract me and she literally did not say a word.
